The speculations are not yet over about what will happen in 2012. As the scientists predicted the world has a chance to end. With Mayan calendar completing the 5,125 year cycle, the “end of days” for earth will arrive by the year end. Well dump all those thoughts and plan out havoc parties welcoming New Year 2012.

The New Year’s Day is celebrated on January 1 every year. In 2012, New Year falls on a Sunday. As per the federal government holidays in US, January 2 will be declared as holiday, since the main event falls on a weekend. This day is special for everyone as it marks the beginning of a fresh year as per the Gregorian calendar.

Celebration begins a day before, which is more popularly known as New Year's Eve. The people of United States celebrate the day through parades, musical shows, public gatherings and fireworks bidding an adieu to the year gone by in the happiest note.
Observing New Year in 2012
Enthralling fireworks, throbbing parties with live musical performance and fun and laughter is what marks the beginning of a new year. The celebration for New Year 2012 would not be any less exciting. People in United States never miss the chance to make it bigger every year. In most of the cities, people are found taking parts in parades and road shows in colorful dresses. The sports fanatics also organize local rugby tournaments followed by grand lunch. It’s a common custom to exchange gifts with the near and dear ones reminding them about the happy times year that has gone by.

The New Year in 2012 will be marked as an official holiday in USA. All the government organizations, colleges, schools and public offices will remain closed on January 1 and 2. The public transport system also follows a different schedule than their regular ones. Some of the roads will likely remain closed due to parades and road shows. In some of the streets, government will also plan a cleaning operation.
History of New Year Celebration
The New Year in United States and in many parts of the world is observed as per the Gregorian calendar. Introduced by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582, the calendar is named after him. Initially the Gregorian calendar was rejected by several churches in United States and particularly in the Eastern European continent. As per the calendar, the first day of the year is observed on January 1. The symbol of the day is Baby New Year, which is a baby boy folded in a diaper wearing a hat and a sash. As per the common belief, the baby grows up along with days passing by.
